Manga, Manga Manga!!!! (yes Russ I'm quoting you)

I just returned from a totally awesome experience with other teen librarians from across the nation. There were authors there!!!

my head fairly explodes with the stuff I learned. the all day workshop on Manga and all things Graphic was so awesome and informative, and yes I got to meet a couple of Manga artists as well as a publisher and some Graphic Novel artists

and...Patterson's books for teens...will be published in Graphic Novel format! We Must get them..yes we must! (I'm sure they're already on order *grins*)

oh, yeah...and I found out the rest of the world has been reading Manga and Graphic novels for years and it's accepted...the American market has taken much longer to get off the ground but it's skyrocketing. (FYI everyone in Japan reads Manga and it's written for Men, Women, adults, teens, school-agers and even toddlers. They read on the subway, in the streets, etc)

So, all those comics fans out there, we can come out of the closet now and defend our right to read with pride! We're not Geeks! (well not much) and even non-Geeks can feel free to read comics/Graphic Novels/Manga!

I wonder where I can get Illustrated classics....that's what got me reading...Man in the Iron Mask, Count of Monte Christo, Three Musketeers...I went straight from the comics to the library for the 'real book' at 10 years old.

Oh, and I know this really isn't the 'place' to blog about my experience at the symposium, but hey, it's where I went first to blog *grins*

I'll talk about the 'twitter/tumblr/hulu/tech crunch, etc in another posting
